HITS

Scope

Computes an order of importance for a set of URL using the rank and the graph.

Interface

• Through a declared server socket it receives a message :

  URL _urlid1_ ... _urlidn_
  

  and after some computations, it sends in replay the message :

  RES  _urlid1_ ... _urlidn_
  

  containing the ordered list of identifiers.
• In order to do its computations, the Hits server contact the Links server to obtain the subgraph relating the given list of pages :

  GETI _urlid_
  GETO _urlid_
  

  and it obtains the results :

  IN _urlid_dest_ _urlid_src1_ ... _urlid_srcn_
  OUT _urlid_src_ _urlid_dest1_ ... _urlid_destn_
  

• In order to do its computations, the Hits server contact the URL Resolver server to obtain the rank of each page :

  GET _urlid_
  

  and it obtains in replay the message :

  URL _urlid_ _rank_ _urlstring_
  

• Reads a file giving the parameters (servers sockets, etc.).
