Dear colleagues,

We are now entering a new phase of the collect= ive lifting of the lockdown. Since 11 May, some of you have resumed physica= l presence at work, often on a part-time basis. Thanks to the remarkable preparatory work conducted by our logistic= s services and that of our partners, we are able to welcome you back in con= ditions that comply with social distancing and hygiene measures, such as th= e supply of masks and gel, as the health and safety of our personnel remains our utmost priority.

Throughout this crisis, we have all shown comp= osure, pragmatism and concern for others. Each and everyone of us has broug= ht their contribution to research, technology transfer and research support activities, both in conventional ways and th= rough solidarity initiatives arising from the current situation. Once again= , I wish to wholeheartedly thank each and everyone of you. And I am convinc= ed that you have all rightly felt a collective sense of pride in the role you have played.=

We must now get back to =AB normal = =BB as soon as possible, at least for those of us who are not vulnerable an= d are not under external pressure, such as having to keep children at home or taking public transport under difficult condition= s. The confinement period has brought into focus the many opportunities off= ered by remote working, but also its limitations, especially over the long = term. It also forced some of our colleagues to ask for special leave authorisation (ASA). It finally preven= ted most experimental activities and slowed the work of many of you, and in= particular PhD students. It is important that we can all resume our activi= ties in full.

By remaining vigilant and complying with socia= l distancing measures, we will return to normality, which does not mean tha= t life will be the same as before the crisis. We must learn from the strange period we have been through and bui= ld upon this experience. Let=92s enjoy being physically together again, wit= h both caution and determination.

All the best to you all,

Antoine Petit
