Description

The aim of this project is to forge a collaboration in the field of quantum information processing between two strong groups at IRIF, Université Paris Diderot, and IQC, University of Waterloo. On the collaboration side, the project will formalize student and faculty existing exchanges across IQC and IRIC, consolidate and expand existing collaborations so as to provide to students access to a double and also an international experience. On the scientific side, the project propose to study methods for the design of efficient quantum algorithms and communication protocols, and also methods for exposing the limitations of specific computational approaches.

Objectives

This project is funded according to a balanced sharing between CNRS and University of Waterloo from 2017 to 2019. The budget will be mostly used for bilateral visits. In addition we aim to organize 1 yearly workshop per year. Those workshops will be dedicated to the interaction within the two groups, but also with invitations of researchers from other institutions.

In term of summer schools, IQC has several research schools programs in which IRIF will participate. Conversely, a school will be organized in Paris in the same spirit of the CNRS research school Quantum Physics and Computer Science that IRIF co-organized in 2014 with PCQC federation. Those schools will be supported by other sources of funding.
